GLASS BUILD-UP

Layers with a purpose.

Laminated glass bonds glass layers to an interlayer that helps hold fragments together after breakage. An insulated glass unit (IGU) adds a sealed space between panes for thermal performance. Thickness alone does not establish impact resistance.

FRAME MATERIAL

Aluminum, finished for your home.

These Mr. Glass series use aluminum frames with a powder-coated finish. Ask about the specified coating, finish and coastal maintenance for your location. Frame color is a design choice; the approved frame, glass and anchors work together.

WIND PRESSURE

Understanding the numbers.

+ Inward pressure →− Outward suction ←

Design pressure (DP) is measured in pounds per square foot, or psf. Positive and negative loads must both suit the opening. A published maximum is not a hurricane category, a wind speed in mph or a guaranteed number of hours in a storm.

What does Low-E do?

Low-E is a very thin glass coating that limits radiant heat transfer while admitting daylight. A solar-control option can reduce heat entering a Florida home. It is different from a dark tint and does not create an impact rating.

What establishes hurricane performance?

The approved assembly includes the glass, frame, hardware and attachment. Impact resistance and wind-pressure resistance are separate checks. Opening size, building height, exposure, wall location and installation affect which configuration can be used.

We confirm the product approval and required positive and negative pressures for your property before specifying a system.

How do I care for the finish?

Mr. Glass recommends cleaning coastal or marine installations at least monthly, and other locations at least every three months. Use mild, pH-neutral soap, a soft cloth and a thorough rinse; avoid abrasive materials and pressure washing.

Keep cleaning records and follow the selected product’s warranty. Service life depends on exposure, use, installation and maintenance.
